Deuteronomy 11:13 "And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently to my commandments
which I command you this day, to love the Lord, your God, and serve him with
all your heart and with all your soul."
Vs. 14 "That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain
and the latter, that thou mayest gatherin thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil."
Your faithfulness to God is the key to living under an open heaven. As we walk in all of God's ways and obey his commandments, then we position ourselves to receive the promises of God for the rain and latter rain. In this lesson, God makes a covenant and gives conditions for receiving the blessings.
First, in living under an open heaven. We have been given a choice. In The Spiritual Warfare Bible, it says to live under an "open" heaven where we live in full communion and fellowship with God and enjoy His blessings upon our lives; or to live under a "closed" heaven where our communion with God is blocked and we no longer reap His blessings. Living under an "open" heaven, we enjoy close communion and fellowship with God. When we pray, there is a distinct awareness that our prayers are getting through to God. We know that God has heard and will answer our prayers. We live in God's cycle of supernatural provision. As we faithfully sow seed, of ourselves, our time, our abilities, our finances, we reap His blessings. The key to living under an "open" heaven is our obedience to God and His word, and our faithfulness through our giving. As long as walk in obedience to God and remain faithful in worshipping Him through our tithes and offerings, we will continue to live under an "open" heaven.
Secondly, in living under a closed heaven, our fellowship and communion with God is hindered. It seems God is distant and hard to reach. When we pray, it seems like we cannot get a break through. Our efforts and energies appear in vain and we are cut off from the flow of God's blessings upon our lives. The reason for living under a "closed" heaven is disobedience and withholding from God. When we are walking in disobedience, we are sinning against God and our communion with Him is broken. Confession and repentance are the keys to restorationof full communion with Him. Releasing is the key that opens the windows of heaven. As we release our faith, our love, our worship to God and give according to His word, the heavens will be opened to us. We will be able to live under an "open" heaven where God's blessings are flowing into our lives.
And with the "open" heaven, we can receive the former rain and the latter rain. We can stand on the promise of an open heaven because we are faithful and obedient to God. We can expect the rain as we sow seed into the ground. The rain will cause our seed to flourish and sprout up to become a great harvest. The former rain and the latter rain will bring blessingswhere God is able to do far more excceding and abundantly than we can ask or think. This rain will bring spiritual and natural blessings. For "God will open His windows of heaven and por us out a blessing that we don't have room to receive."
